  • Compile documentation and information required to report the estate to the relevant Master of the High Court
  • Obtain the Letters of Executorship
  • Interpret the Will and identify all the mentioned beneficiaries, trustees and guardians
  • Communicate regularly with beneficiaries, next-of-kin, and all other parties with a clear interest in the progress of the administration process
  • Place all the required notices in the Government Gazette and in the appropriate Newspapers
  • Open a bank account in the name of the estate late
  • Obtain valuations and information on all assets and liabilities of the deceased
  • Prepare and lodge the Liquidation and Distribution Account
  • Engage in negotiations with creditors and settle outstanding debts
  • Calculate capital gains tax, if necessary
  • Finalize all tax affairs of the deceased and his/her estate with the South African Revenue Service (SARS)
  • Pay the administration costs
  • Formation and registration of testamentary trusts, if applicable
  • Pay and transfer the legacies and inheritances to the beneficiaries
